RIVER METALS RECYCLING LOUISVILLE COMMUNITY HUB
DEAR NEIGHBOR,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to introduce myself as the General Manager of River Metals Recycling. You’ve likely driven by our operations without ever noticing—despite the fact we’ve been here for 50 years!
At our site, we begin the cycle of turning post-consumer and post-industrial materials from residents and businesses back into raw materials that Kentucky mills and foundries rely on to create aluminum and steel for regional manufacturers.
This letter provides two important neighborhood updates about our operations.
While our operations are more than a half mile from Clifton Heights, some neighbors reached out regarding the occasional sounds from our site. In response, we constructed a new barrier to help isolate and dampen the sounds of our normal operations.
If you could not hear sounds from our facility, you still won’t. If you could occasionally hear us, this new sound barrier will ensure you hear less.
In addition, we launched this community site to provide updates on what we do, how we give back, and provide answers to common questions.
Beyond sound, we want our neighbors to know our commitment to safety. We work closely with regulators at the federal, state and local levels, including OSHA, KY Dept of Environmental Protection, Louisville Metro Code Enforcement, and others and are proud of our compliance and safety records.
As a Louisville native, I take special pride in being part of the green economy promoting sustainability and renewables right here in our community. At RMR, we are consistently reviewing and updating our procedures to ensure we conduct our operations in a safe and responsible manner.
We are proud to be your neighbor. We encourage you to take a moment to review our new Clifton Heights community website, which includes a convenient contact form through which you can submit questions and stay in touch.
Your neighbor,
Brad Wethington
General Manager
