CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF SAFE, GREEN RECYCLING ON RIVER ROAD

For 50 years, our River Road operation has been a regional epicenter of post-consumer and post-industrial recycling. We are one of Kentucky’s safest, most efficient, and most reliable scrap metal processing facilities.

The Louisville facility, spanning 65 acres, recycles both ferrous (metal that sticks to a magnet) and nonferrous scrap metal. Some of the items we purchase include aluminum siding, aluminum cans, appliances, automobiles, brass, cast iron, copper, demolition scrap, sheet iron, stainless steel and some electronic scrap like circuit boards, laptops, and hard drives.

Kentucky is one of the largest aluminum-producing states in the U.S., and RMR sells recycled aluminum to some of Kentucky's largest producers. Our recycled steel is sold to Nucor Gallatin and other Kentucky based companies.

  • River Metals Recycling takes seriously its role as a leader in scrap recycling, charging forward in its efforts to be as “green” as possible. The Louisville yard is designed with environmentally friendly systems. Why take your scrap to a landfill when you can bring it to RMR and benefit the environment?

Hard at Work Giving Old Things New Life

In Louisville, we pride ourselves in turning post-industrial and post-consumer products into scrap metal commodities that will be turned into new products. We are at the core of sustainability, keeping products out of landfills and conserving natural resources.

  • RMR plays a central role in Kentucky’s steel, aluminum, and diverse manufacturing industries. We feed our automobile shredder with entire car bodies, old appliances, and other types of steel scrap, which is processed and then sold to mills. Steel mills mix the shredded scrap with other types of scrap and raw materials to make new steel.

  • RMR’s strategic location allows us to create value for our customers and suppliers, serving them via rail, truck and barge.  We load barges and ship much of our scrap metal on the Ohio River, eliminating excess truck traffic and reducing fuel emissions.
